the numbers that really matter to me right now have nothing to do with money. as i grow older, i am more aware of what i put in my mouth and i like the feeling of being in control of what i eat. after all, it is true that you are what you eat.
everyday, i try to walk 10,000 steps or 5 miles. it is a conscious effort, one that i never forget because once i get complacent, i know i will lose track of my goal to maintain a healthy lifestyle. it keeps me feeling motivated and fulfilled in a day.
lately, i have started to count my calories. i know alot of people might find this obsessive, as i once did when i found out a friend of mine was doing it. but it is very empowering to be aware of how much calories you've taken in. i like knowing that i have had enough of my daily dairy intake and how much more protein i can still have. just this week, i maintained a 1200-1500 daily calorie intake and i lost 3 lbs! and since to lose 1 lb means a deficit of 3000 calories, i had actually lost 9000 calories in the span of a week! doing this allows me to make "adjustments" when i'm craving and won't ruin my daily caloric intake.
staying healthy really is being aware of your body. and although counting the calories involves such elementary operations, it gives me a whole new outlook on numbers all over again.
